PTO Questions

The Malcolm White PTO is organized for the purpose of supporting and enhancing the educational experience of the Malcolm White Elementary School’s students by: (1) providing an organization which the parents, school, and teachers can work cooperatively; and (2) provide financial support for programs funded outside of the annual school budget.  The organization is led by an executive board that consists of the principal, a teacher representative and the following roles: President, Vice President – Fundraising, Treasurer, Secretary, and Enrichment Officer.

A few things to note about our PTO:

  • It operates as a charity
  • No member, officer or school employee is paid for their service
  • It is not affiliated with any political party or candidate
  • All are welcome to participate

Any adult that is a caregiver of a Malcolm White student is welcomed to join the PTO.

Meetings are held monthly from September-June, either in person at the Malcolm White or remotely via video conferencing.  Please check out our meetings page for more information as to a schedule for this school year.

Malcolm White Elementary Questions

781-897-4282 is the main line.  Listen to the menu for options such as, connecting to the school nurse, reporting an absence or tardy, or to speak directly with the school secretary (Leanne Venezia).

The school doors open at 8:15 am and close at the start of school at 8:25am. If you are late, the student will need to enter through the front doors and will be marked tardy. School ends at 2:50 pm.  These times include Kindergarten since it is full day in Woburn.

At the start of the year, you will use the kindergarten doors in the back of the school (right side of the school if you are looking directly at it). You must walk the student to the door and pick up at the door as well. Eventually, pick up and drop off will move to the side door where first grade enters and exits. You will be notified when this change occurs.

Reaching out to your child(ren)’s teacher by email or through Remind app. This allows them to respond without taking time out from class time.

Yes! The state extended the free lunch for all for the academic year 2024-2025? A monthly menu can be found on the Woburn Public School website. https://district.woburnps.com/departments/food-services

Kindergarteners will be assigned to a class after they have had the opportunity to meet with all three teachers and interact in small groups with many if not all other students. This process allows staff to thoughtfully place students after meeting and working with them. Teacher assignments will be shared on Friday September 6th after dismissal.

Once you have received an activation code from the school (when your child either enters the school through Kindergarten or from another district), you can access  your child(ren)’s report card by going to ParentPlus Portal.  The website not only gives your access to your child(ren)’s progress, but also communication about school events and classroom activities.  If you have not received an activation email, please contact Leanne Venezia (lvenezia@woburnps.com).

Look on the Woburn Public School website for the bus routes. Each bus stop is listed and you can figure out which stop works best for your student.

As part of your child’s entrance to kindergarten, your child will participate in a screening process.

The screening takes approximately 10-15 minutes.

The screening will take place while your child is at school on September 5th and September 6th.

The child will be screened in the areas of Language, Cognition, Gross Motor, Visual/Motor, Adaptive

There is nothing that you should do to prepare your child for the screening.
